In case anyone is new out there, please do NOT wear cotton clothing to paddle, especially now when the water is cold. Cotton will soak up the water, weigh you down, and make you very, very cold. Never a good thing during cold water paddling season.

Remember - dress for the water, you never know when you might go in. I believe that Stephen has posted some great cold water advice on our group Wiki.

You can also get some great information here: http://delmarvakayak.home.comcast.net/paddling_safety.htm

And read about my friend Mitch who died in February of this year in the cold water: http://delmarvakayak.home.comcast.net/mitch.htm

Please don't fool around, get and wear proper cold water paddling clothing.
