EditSwim Club Requirements
Requirements of swim club membership are:- You must be a paddler of a kayak, canoe, OC-1, surfski or other human propelled small craft.
- You must be a human (or animal that can paddle small craft - see #1)
- You must be, initially, on the water in said craft
- You must leave said craft unwillingly or unintentionally
- You must land in the water
- You must get wet above the ankles
While not required for membership, it is recommended that you look or act ridiculous while completing steps 4, 5 and 6. Also not required, but encouraged, is a quick excuse to explain why the wet exit was not your fault.
To become an officer of the Club, it helps to strive for style points; for example, being the first to swim in a new year, in winter temperatures or screaming like a hyena while flailing about while dumping or shortly thereafter.
Also, showing off a superior paddling skill with bravado just prior to exit is always appreciated. Ideally, you will fill your craft with water, watch some or all of your belongings float away and soak your clothing entirely.
Bonus if you have to crawl through mud, leeches, weeds, slimey things, 2' waves, greenheads, or rapids to get out.
